Château Rauzan-Ségla is a prestigious Second Grand Cru Classé estate from the Margaux appellation in Bordeaux, France, with over 350 years of winemaking heritage. This 2022 vintage is a red Bordeaux blend composed of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot, sourced from a 70-hectare vineyard with vines averaging 38 years old, planted on deep, fine clay gravel soils in the heart of Margaux.
Vinification is carried out plot by plot using gravity-fed vatting in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by 18 months of aging in French oak barrels with 50% new oak. The 2022 growing season benefited from warm spring conditions and timely late-June rainfall that prevented water stress, resulting in a balanced and expressive vintage.
On the palate, this wine delivers a rich and powerful character with a lovely fruity structure featuring Bigarreau cherry notes alongside lively citrus and sappy accents. Full-bodied tannins of great elegance extend through to a finish with refreshing mineral and chalky notes. The 2022 vintage has earned exceptional critical acclaim, including 98/100 from James Suckling, 97+/100 from Vinous, and 96/100 from both Robert Parker and Wine Spectator. Contains sulphites. 14.5% ABV.
