Château Siran 2022 Margaux Rouge is a distinguished red Bordeaux from the Margaux appellation in the Médoc, Left Bank of Bordeaux, France. The estate has a storied history dating back to 1428 and has been in the Miailhe family since 1858. The 2022 vintage is widely regarded as one of the finest the property has ever produced, earning scores of 90 to 96 points from leading critics including James Suckling (95–96), Vinous/Antonio Galloni (93–95), Vinous/Neal Martin (92–94), and Wine Advocate/William Kelley (90–92).
The wine is a blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 11% Petit Verdot, and 1% Cabernet Franc, harvested September 13 through September 30 at 14% ABV. It was matured in 35% new French oak barrels for approximately 12 months. Tasting notes describe it as concentrated, rich, and mouth-filling, with blackberries, chocolate, lilacs, black raspberries, smoke, tobacco leaf, and cherries on the nose. On the palate it delivers fresh red pit fruits, espresso, and a peppery, spicy finish with layers of sweet, luscious fruit and a savory edge. The optimal drinking window is 2027 to 2050, though it may be enjoyed earlier with decanting.
Château Siran pairs exceptionally well with classic meat dishes including beef, lamb, veal, duck, and game, as well as roasted and braised preparations. It also complements mushroom dishes, hearty pasta, and aged cheeses. Serve at 15.5°C (60°F) and decant young vintages for 1 to 3 hours to allow full aromatic development.
