Château Troplong Mondot is a prestigious estate situated atop the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, in Bordeaux, France. This 2022 vintage — the rouge (red wine) — is classified as a Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé B, one of the appellation's highest designations, and represents one of the most acclaimed wines produced at this storied château in recent decades.
The 2022 is a blend of 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% Cabernet Franc, raised in 55% new oak barrels, with the remainder aged in once-used barrels and large foudre. The wine pours a deep garnet-purple and presents aromas of mulberries, blackberries, blueberries, and plum, layered with violets, rose petals, dark chocolate, licorice, graphite, and wild sage. On the palate it is full-bodied, multidimensional, and beautifully balanced, with polished tannins, a lively spine of acidity, and a long, violet-inflected finish. Alcohol is approximately 15%.
The 2022 vintage earned near-perfect scores from the world's most respected critics: Wine Advocate (100 pts), Wine Enthusiast (99 pts), Decanter (99 pts), James Suckling (98 pts, #92 Top 100 World Wines 2025), Vinous Media (98 pts), Jeb Dunnuck (98 pts), The Wine Independent (98 pts), and Wine Spectator (94 pts). Best drinking window is estimated from 2027 through 2042. Sold in cases of 12 x 750ml bottles.
