Le Petit Ducru de Ducru-Beaucaillou is the third wine of the legendary Château Ducru-Beaucaillou, a Second Growth estate in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification located in Saint-Julien, Médoc, France. Previously sold as Château Lalande-Borie, it was relaunched under the Le Petit Ducru name beginning with the 2018 vintage. The wine draws from the estate's gravelly terroir — "Beaucaillou" translates to "beautiful stones" — which imparts distinctive minerality and structure.
This Merlot-dominant blend typically includes Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, ranging approximately 75–78% Merlot, 18–20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4–5% Petit Verdot depending on the vintage. The wine exhibits aromas of ripe blackberry, cassis, violet, and subtle graphite, with a medium to full-bodied palate showing silky tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, elegant finish. Wine Enthusiast describes recent vintages as showing "pure black fruits and fresh acidity" with a "succulent character." It is best enjoyed after several years of cellaring and has a drinking window of 10–12 years from vintage. Pairs excellently with roasted lamb, grilled red meats, aged cheeses, and hearty French cuisine.
