Serego Alighieri Possessioni Rosso is a red wine from the Veneto region of northeastern Italy, produced by the historic estate of Serego Alighieri in partnership with Masi Agricola. The estate traces its origins to 1353, when Pietro Alighieri — son of the renowned poet Dante Alighieri — acquired the vineyards, making it one of Italy's most storied wine properties.
The Possessioni Rosso is a vibrant, approachable blend predominantly composed of Corvina (approximately 70%), with Sangiovese and Molinara rounding out the blend. It falls under the Verona IGT (or Veneto IGT) designation and expresses the character of the Valpolicella Classico zone. The wine shows ripe red and dark berry fruit, notes of dark chocolate, balsamic, and dry earth, with a clean, fresh character and medium body supported by a chalky tannin structure.
This wine pairs well with pasta dishes, grilled meats, pizza, and aged cheeses. It is best enjoyed slightly cool and is suitable for drinking young while remaining versatile at the table.
