Nals Margreid Punggl Pinot Grigio is an Alto Adige DOC white wine from Northern Italy, crafted by a historic cooperative winery in the South Tyrol region. The wine is sourced from vineyards situated approximately 300 meters above sea level south of Margreid in the Adige Valley, where alpine altitude and southern exposure create ideal conditions for growing Pinot Grigio with exceptional depth and aromatic character.
The wine presents a brilliant pale straw yellow color with expressive aromatics of apricot purée and lychee, accented by a delicate undertone of fresh thyme. On the palate it is rounded and full-flavored, with a deep fruity character balanced by a lively, refreshing acidity that gives the wine excellent length. The Punggl is aged for ten months on its lees, with 70 percent in stainless steel tanks and 30 percent in large oak casks, allowing nuances of noble wood to harmonize seamlessly with the wine's natural fruit without overpowering it.
Nals Margreid is a cooperative winery based in Nals (Nalles) in South Tyrol, formed in 1985 through the merger of Cellars Nals (established 1932) and Magré-Niclara (established 1954). The cooperative unites approximately 138 wine-growing families cultivating 160 hectares across 14 distinct areas spanning the Adige Valley to southern Alto Adige. Under winemaker Harald Schraffl, the estate produces around 950,000 bottles per year and exports to Europe and the United States.
