From The Sky Down Conner Lee Cabernet Sauvignon is a single-vineyard Washington State red wine sourced from the historic Conner Lee Vineyard on the Wahluke Slope AVA of the Columbia Valley. The 2021 vintage is a blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot, aged 22 months in 75% new French oak barrels, bottled at 14.8% alcohol by volume. Only 500 cases were produced, making this a rare and limited release. It is produced and bottled by From The Sky Down in Walla Walla, WA, and is part of the Avallé collection.
Conner Lee Vineyard was established in 1980 with the guidance of renowned viticulturist Dr. Walter Clore. The vineyard sits at approximately 1,100 feet elevation on sandy glacial marine sediments deposited by the ancient Missoula floods. The wine displays a deep ruby/purple color with aromas of red and blue fruits, sappy herbs, spring flowers, and graphite. The palate offers medium to full body, fine tannins, and a long, refined finish with notes of wet earth, espresso bean, and salty soils. It is drinking beautifully now and is cellaring-worthy through 2040 and beyond.
The 2021 Conner Lee has garnered exceptional critical acclaim, earning 99 points from Owen Bargreen (Wine Influencer), 97 points from Jeremy Young (International Wine Report), 95–97 points from Jeb Dunnuck, and 96 points from Paul Gregutt of Wine Enthusiast, who called it "truly one of the finest wines from this vineyard." Contains sulfites. GOVERNMENT WARNING: (1) According to the Surgeon General, women should not drink alcoholic beverages during pregnancy because of the risk of birth defects.
