Bonacchi Badesco is a Super Tuscan red wine crafted by Cantine Bonacchi, a fourth-generation family winery founded in Tuscany, Italy, at the end of the 19th century. The winery's vineyards are located in the hills of the province of Pistoia, where the Bonacchi family has cultivated vines since the time of founder Enrico Bonacchi.
This 750ml bottle is a classic Tuscan red blend of 60% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot, and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, carrying an IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) designation. The wine is aged in small French oak barrels and stored in old underground cellars, resulting in a garnet-red color with beautifully integrated tannins. It carries 14% alcohol by volume and contains sulfites.
The 2018 vintage earned 93 Points from Decanter, praised for its expressive aromas of ripe red fruits, blackberry, bramble, sweet tobacco, and leather, with a plummy palate, soft charming tannins, and an elegant, fresh finish. James Suckling also awarded 93 Points, noting a perfumed nose of blackberry, blueberry, smoked paprika, mushroom, and earth, with chalky tannins, lively acidity, a velvety texture, and a spicy, savory finish. Vivino users rate the wine 3.8 out of 5, with tasting notes of oak, vanilla, tobacco, blackberry, dark fruit, and cherry. It pairs well with beef, lamb, veal, poultry, cured meats, grilled meats, and aged cheeses.
