Philippe Gonet Roy Soleil is a prestigious Blanc de Blancs Champagne from the Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Côte des Blancs, Champagne, France. Named in honor of Louis XIV — the "Sun King" — who championed Champagne's worldwide popularity, this cuvée was born in 2003 and is crafted exclusively from 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay grapes harvested from the Gonet family's own vineyard plots in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.
The wine is vinified using a combination of old and new oak barrels, lending subtle complexity and structure. Following vinification, it undergoes a minimum of three years of bottle aging, developing exceptional depth and finesse. The delicate and elegant nose opens to candied fruit — citrus and apricot — alongside gingerbread and a woody forest bouquet. On the palate, the attack is mouth-filling and dominated by ripe citrus, offering lovely freshness and a long, lingering finish.
Philippe Gonet is one of the most distinguished houses in Champagne, now in its seventh generation. The current stewards, siblings Pierre and Chantal Gonet, took over at remarkably young ages following the passing of their father, Philippe Gonet. Pierre oversees winemaking and the vineyards while Chantal represents the house internationally. This 750ML bottle is sold by Costco in cases of 6.
