Domaine Durup Vau de Vey Chablis 1er Cru is a distinguished white Burgundy produced by Jean Durup Père & Fils, one of the largest and most respected estates in the Chablis appellation. Crafted entirely from Chardonnay grapes and bottled at 750mL, this Premier Cru wine comes from the acclaimed Vau de Vey climat on the left bank of the Serein River in Bourgogne, France.
The Vau de Vey vineyard spans approximately 40 hectares and is defined by its south-eastern exposure, which receives only morning sunlight — making it one of Chablis' cooler Premiers Crus, further shaped by strong northern winds and a slow ripening season. The terrain's steep slopes, some too steep for mechanized cultivation, require manual work, and the deep Kimmeridgian marl soils impart the wine's signature mineral complexity.
The wine pours a medium yellow and opens with an expressive, complex nose featuring a smoky, flinty minerality alongside stone fruits, quince, melon, and delicate floral notes of lemon blossom. On the palate it is nearly full-bodied with vibrant acidity and layered flavors of crisp apple, ripe peach, vanilla, and subtle smokiness, culminating in a long, deeply satisfying finish. Best served at 10–12°C, it is an excellent companion to pan-seared scallops, oysters, grilled turbot, or other fresh seafood. The wine is still youthful and will continue to develop gracefully through at least 2035.
