La Spinetta Il Nero di Casanova is a 100% Sangiovese red wine from the Casanova estate in Tuscany, Italy. Its name "Nero" derives from "vino nero," the traditional name for Tuscan red wines. This wine expresses hints of blackberries, blueberries, and ripe cherries with slight spicy notes on the nose. Upon tasting, it displays a full body with a very immersive character, featuring velvety tannins in perfect harmony with extraordinary freshness and excellent acidity that makes for a wonderful finish.
The wine is produced from vineyards located in the municipalities of Terricciola and Casciana Terme at approximately 250 meters elevation, with vines averaging 20 years of age. The Terricciola vineyard features sandy soil of marine origins rich with oceanic sediments, while Casciana Terme has rocky soil strongly characterized by travertine. Maceration and alcoholic fermentation occur in temperature-controlled vats for 14-15 days, followed by malolactic fermentation in used French oak barrels and 12 months of aging. The wine is then bottle-aged for approximately 3 months before release. Average production is 90,000 bottles annually. Best served at 16-17°C in a Bordeaux glass.
