Chesebro Cedar Lane Albariño is a crisp, vibrant white wine from the Arroyo Seco AVA in Monterey County, California. This traditional Spanish white varietal showcases the unique terroir of Cedar Lane Vineyard, located on a dry streambed floor loaded with rounded river rocks and sand, providing ideal drainage for concentrated flavors and extended hang-time.
The wine presents aromas of apricot blossoms, kumquat, lime blossom, and tart apple with hints of tropical fruit and minerality. On the palate, it delivers bright citrus and stone fruit flavors including peach, apple, and pear with citrus zest, balanced by crisp acidity and a textured, vibrant mouthfeel. The wine features orange blossom, gardenia, and jasmine elements floating atop the stonefruit core on a cleanly presented palate.
Winemaker Mark Chesebro crafts this wine using a non-interventionist approach, fermenting 100% in stainless steel barrels with no oak, no malolactic fermentation, and lees contact to emphasize crisp acidity and lower alcohol levels (13.0-13.5%). He harvests at three different ripeness levels to achieve a combination of racy, juicy, and exotic flavors with excellent minerality and a long, bright finish. Wine Enthusiast has awarded recent vintages 91 points, praising its intensity, definition, and terrific acidity.
