Rare North Pinot Noir is a certified LIVE Sustainable red wine from Oregon's Willamette Valley, made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes sourced from carefully selected vineyards including the Mt. Pisgah AVA. The wine is produced using practicing organic viticulture with 20% whole cluster fermentation, gently pressed and slowly fermented in stainless steel, then aged 9 months in mostly neutral French oak with 15% new barrels. Production is limited to approximately 3,000 cases at 13% ABV.
On the nose, this wine offers brambly red raspberry, watermelon, and sweet clover aromas reminiscent of a meadow picnic, along with candied violets, forest, and conifer notes mingled with lightly-roasted espresso beans. On the palate, marionberries meld with tangy citrus and rhubarb flavors, with a touch of herbal tea in the background. The wine features a crisp texture, elevated acidity, and silky tannins. It has received a 93-point score from Wine Enthusiast.
