Domaine de la Charbonnière is a family-run estate in the Southern Rhône Valley of France, now led by the fourth generation of the Maret family. Eldest daughter Véronique Maret took over winemaking in 2007, with her sister Caroline joining operations in 2014. The estate farms 4 hectares of Vacqueyras vineyards in the village of Sarrians, alongside their larger holdings in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes du Rhône. Véronique has modernized the winery while championing organic viticulture practices.

This Vacqueyras rouge is a Grenache and Syrah blend with approximately 15% ABV, grown in the sandy-clay soils of the appellation. The wine is medium-bodied with roasted aromas and vibrant red and black fruit character — cassis, black currant, spice, and underbrush — with a long, mouthwatering finish accented by notes of charred sandalwood and incense. Vacqueyras is an appellation in the southern Rhône known for bold, hearty reds, and this bottling offers an approachable introduction to the Charbonnière style.
