Château Cantelys Blanc is a premium dry white Bordeaux wine from the prestigious Pessac-Léognan appellation in the Graves region of southwestern France. This elegant white wine is crafted from an equal blend of 50% Sauvignon Blanc and 50% Sémillon grapes, vinified in 50% new French oak barrels with lees stirring for 10 months before bottling. The estate, located in the commune of Martillac, spans 4.5 hectares of white grape vineyards planted in gravelly soil with clay, ideal for white wine production.
Tasting notes describe vibrant aromas of grapefruit, lemon, orange pith, pineapple, white peach, and floral notes with a crisp, fresh palate. The wine showcases tropical fruit flavors including pineapple, mango, and yellow citrus, finishing with creamy texture and refreshing acidity. Recent vintages (2020-2024) have earned 90-92 point ratings from The Wine Cellar Insider, praised as a well-priced white Bordeaux that delivers exceptional value.
The château was established in the 1980s by Dominique Lurton and purchased in 1994 by Florence and Daniel Cathiard, owners of the renowned Château Smith Haut Lafitte. The wine is now produced at Smith Haut Lafitte by the same winemaking team. The Helfrich family currently manages the estate. Best served at 15.5°C (60°F), this wine pairs beautifully with shellfish, sashimi, sushi, seafood, chicken, veal, and cheese. Enjoy young for bright citrus freshness or age 3-8 years for more complex development.
