A premium Spanish red wine from the prestigious Ribera del Duero region, crafted by Pagos del Rey. This wine is made with a blend of young-vine and old-vine Tempranillo grapes, which are fermented separately to preserve their individual characters. The young-vine grapes provide bright fruit and floral aromas, while the old-vine parcel contributes firm tannins and riper fruit notes.

The wine is aged in oak for 409 days, hence its name, followed by several months in bottle. This extended aging creates a rich, polished style with juicy dark-fruit flavors balanced by complex notes of toasted spices, dark chocolate, walnut, and tobacco. The wine features ripe plums, blackberries, mocha, and bark on the nose, followed by a focused, dark-fruited, and creamy palate.

With supple tannins and a long, savoury finish, this full-bodied yet fresh and balanced wine pairs excellently with red meats such as roast lamb or peppery beef. It can also be cellared for up to five years. The 2020 vintage was awarded 92 points by top critic James Suckling, while the 2021 vintage received 90 points from Decanter, highlighting its creamy, polished style with black fruits, coconutty vanilla oak notes, and a hint of boot polish.
