Domaine Bouard-Bonnefoy Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru is a premium white Burgundy Chardonnay from one of the most prestigious wine-growing regions in France. This wine is produced from the Morgeot - Les Petits Clos vineyard, a small walled parcel within the larger Morgeot premier cru vineyard, featuring 60-year-old vines growing in unique blue clay soils at approximately 750 feet elevation. The wine showcases laser-focused precision with aromas of wildflowers, crushed stones, fresh pears, and yellow plums, complemented by tangy flavors of yellow fruits with light spice notes.
The Bouard-Bonnefoy family represents traditional artisanal Burgundy winemaking at its finest. Winemaker Fabrice Bouard and his wife Carine Bonnefoy sustainably farm just twenty acres of coveted vines in Chassagne-Montrachet, using hand-harvesting and natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged in older French oak barrels with approximately 20% new wood, using minimal sulfur at bottling. The result is a naturally made wine with profound flavor, bright fruit, and distinctive minerality.
This premier cru wine delivers a plush, savory texture with hints of red berries characteristic of the Morgeot vineyard. It combines honeyed concentration with silky texture, offering layers of candied lemons, roasted almonds, and herbs. The wine displays terrific depth and elegance, making it a beautiful example of authentic white Burgundy far removed from modern hyper-technology and trends.
