Mare Island Brewing Co.'s Saginaw Golden Ale is a crisp, approachable American Blonde Ale brewed in Vallejo, California, and sold in a convenient 4-pack of 16oz cans. At 4.3% ABV and 21 IBUs, it offers a delicate malt flavor with subtle hints of citrus and floral notes, finishing with a lively effervescence that makes it highly sessionable.

The beer is named in honor of the USS Saginaw, the very first keel laid at the historic Mare Island Naval Shipyard in 1858. The ship saw remarkable service fighting pirates and Confederate forces before running aground on a reef in the South Pacific in 1870. Five brave volunteers attempted a 1,500-mile voyage in the captain's salvaged skiff to seek rescue from Hawaii's King Kamehameha—only Coxswain William Halford survived the journey to shore, ultimately saving his remaining 164 shipmates. Halford is buried in the Mare Island Cemetery.
