Lagrimas del Valle La Loma Plata is a single-rancho, vintage-dated blanco tequila produced at the historic Cascahuin distillery (NOM 1123) in El Arenal, Jalisco, Mexico. Master Tequilero Salvador "Chava" Rosales Trejo, the fourth generation of his family's distilling tradition dating back to 1904, crafts this spirit from 100% Blue Weber agave (Agave tequilana) sourced exclusively from the La Loma rancho in Villamar, Michoacán — elevated at 1,540 meters above sea level with an exceptional average agave brix of 38%. The name "Lagrimas del Valle" translates to "Tears of the Valley," evoking both the legs that form on a glass of high-quality agave spirit and the condensed spirits falling into the still during distillation.
The agave is cooked in masonry steam ovens using an intermittent method of 8 hours per day over 4 days. Crushing employs a dual technique: 70% roller mill with the resulting juice fermented in stainless steel tanks, and 30% traditional tahona stone with the fibers fermented in open-air wooden tanks using ambient yeast. The spirit is double-distilled — first in a 2,000-liter stainless steel pot still with a copper coil, then in a 350-liter copper pot still — and bottled unaged at 46% ABV. It is verified additive-free by Tequila Matchmaker.
On the nose, La Loma Plata offers agave-forward aromatics with hints of citrus peel, ripe melon, roasted pine nuts, and clover. The palate is layered and punctuated, delivering bright citrus, subtle minerality, and rich agave throughout. Bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml format.
