Aperture Cellars 2022 Bordeaux Red Blend from Sonoma County is a sophisticated, Malbec-forward wine crafted by winemaker Jesse Katz from select hillside vineyards with clay loam soils. This Costco offering is sold as a case of 12 x 750ml bottles.
The wine is composed of 36% Malbec, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. It was aged 18 months in 59 and 70-gallon French oak barrels with 50% new oak, and is produced unfined, unfiltered, and un-acidified to preserve its natural character.
On the nose, it bursts with red cherry and pomegranate perfume, revealing nuances of lavender, forest floor, and glossy new oak. The medium-bodied palate features generous floral fruit structured by powdery tannins and juicy acidity, with a long, layered finish. The wine has earned 97 points and a Cellar Selection designation from Wine Enthusiast, 95 points from the International Wine Report, and 93 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
