Château Branaire-Ducru is a prestigious Grand Cru Classé wine from the Saint-Julien appellation in Bordeaux, France, classified as a Fourth Growth in the historic 1855 Classification. This exceptional red blend is crafted from a 60-hectare vineyard featuring 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, and 3% Cabernet Franc grown on deep gravel with clay soils.
The winemaking process includes temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 26-28°C with approximately 21 days of maceration, followed by 16-20 months of aging in 60-65% new French oak barrels. The wine showcases elegant, refined, and fresh characteristics with silky tannins, bright red fruits, expressive and pure aromas, a creamy structure, and a finish marked by very fine tannins. This 5-liter format provides exceptional value for those who appreciate this classic Bordeaux estate.
The wine pairs excellently with classic meat dishes including veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, and game, as well as hearty seafood preparations. Serve at 15.5°C (60°F) for optimal enjoyment. Wines from Château Branaire-Ducru typically drink well at 8-10 years and have aging potential of 20+ years.
