Chateau Talbot is a prestigious Fourth Growth (Quatrieme Cru Classe) red Bordeaux wine from the Saint-Julien appellation in the Medoc region of France. Classified in the historic 1855 Bordeaux Classification, this estate has been producing distinguished wines for centuries, with the property named after the English military commander John Talbot, who fell at the Battle of Castillon in 1453.
This 3-liter double magnum format is equivalent to four standard 750ml bottles, making it ideal for cellaring and special occasions. The wine is a blend predominantly composed of Cabernet Sauvignon (approximately 67%), Merlot (27%), Petit Verdot (4.5%), and Cabernet Franc (1.5%). It is vinified in temperature-controlled wood vats and stainless steel tanks, then aged in 50-60% new French oak barrels for 14 to 16 months.
Chateau Talbot is known for its generous bouquet featuring notes of blackberries, currants, tobacco leaf, licorice, cedar, and spice. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with elegant, fresh fruit, silky tannins, and a long, complex finish. The wine is best enjoyed at around 15.5 degrees Celsius and pairs beautifully with classic meat dishes, lamb, duck, game, roasted and braised preparations, as well as hearty seafood and aged cheeses. It typically drinks well at 7-10 years of bottle age and can cellar for 20-25 years in top vintages.
