Costco's Fresh Wild Mahi Mahi Fillet is sold by the pound directly from the seafood counter, offering restaurant-quality fish with no additives, preservatives, or pre-seasoning. Mahi mahi (also known as dolphinfish) is a warm-water ocean fish prized for its firm yet tender white flesh and mild, slightly sweet flavor that is far less "fishy" than many other seafood options, making it an excellent choice for those new to cooking fish.
Wild caught and sold fresh, these fillets are naturally high in lean protein and low in fat and carbohydrates. The firm texture holds up exceptionally well to a variety of cooking methods, including pan searing, grilling, oven baking, and air frying. Pan searing over medium-high heat for 3 to 4 minutes per side produces a golden, flavorful crust while keeping the interior moist and flaky. Grilling at 400 to 450°F for 6 to 12 minutes imparts smoky char notes that complement the natural sweetness of the fish. When baking, cook at 400°F for approximately 10 minutes per inch of thickness until the internal temperature reaches 137 to 145°F.
Mahi mahi pairs beautifully with tropical flavors such as mango salsa, citrus-butter sauces, and Cajun or blackened seasoning blends. It is a popular choice for fish tacos, grain bowls, and light weeknight dinners.
