J. Lohr Pure Paso is a proprietary red blend from the Paso Robles AVA in San Luis Obispo County, California, presented here in a generous 3-liter large format bottle equivalent to four standard bottles. The wine highlights J. Lohr's acclaimed house style: a dense and focused fruit signature coupled with a soft, approachable palate. The blend is composed primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah, two of J. Lohr's benchmark varieties in the Central Coast, with the Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the estate Shotwell Vineyard in the cooler El Pomar District, planted on calcareous Linne-Calodo soils. The Petite Sirah component is grown in the warmer Estrella and San Miguel Districts of Paso Robles.

The wine is aged 15 months in 60-gallon American and Hungarian oak barriques with 15% new wood, imparting layered notes of cocoa powder, caramel, and anise that work in harmony with the wine's black cherry fruit signature. On the palate it is bright and focused with a firm, appetizing finish and 14.5% alcohol. The wine benefits significantly from decanting or aeration — allow at least one to two hours before serving for the best experience.
