Château Corbin Grand Cru Classé Saint-Émilion 1998 is a prestigious Bordeaux red wine from one of the appellation's oldest estates, presented in an impressive 3-liter double magnum format. Dating back to the 15th century, Château Corbin has been in the Cruse family since 1924 and earned its Grand Cru Classé classification at the inaugural Saint-Émilion classification of 1955. The estate's 12.31-hectare vineyard is situated in the northwest corner of Saint-Émilion, close to the Pomerol border, on soils of sand and clay with iron deposits that lend the wines their characteristic elegance.
The wine is crafted predominantly from Merlot complemented by Cabernet Franc, aged in French oak barrels before bottling. The 3-liter double magnum format is prized by collectors, as larger formats allow wine to age more gracefully and develop greater complexity over time. The 1998 vintage in Saint-Émilion has now reached full maturity, expressing developed tertiary aromas of tobacco, dried red fruits, earth, and subtle spice characteristic of aged right-bank Bordeaux.
Serve at 15.5°C (60°F) and decant carefully to remove any sediment. Château Corbin pairs beautifully with classic meat dishes including beef, lamb, duck, game, and roasted preparations, as well as rich mushroom dishes and aged cheeses.
