Barone Ricasoli Brolio Chianti Classico DOCG is a classic Tuscan red wine produced by the historic Barone Ricasoli winery, founded in 1141 and recognized as one of the oldest continuously operating wineries in the world. The Brolio estate sits in the heart of the Chianti Classico zone in Tuscany, Italy, with a microclimate ideal for growing the Sangiovese grape.
This wine is crafted primarily from Sangiovese grapes, complemented by small percentages of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel vats to preserve the freshness and purity of the fruit, followed by aging for at least 12 months in French oak barriques, which adds complexity and structure. The result is a deep ruby red wine displaying an intense nose of ripe cherries and plums, enriched by notes of irises, violets, sweet spices, and a light touch of vanilla.
On the palate, the wine is robust yet harmonious, with well-integrated tannins, bright acidity, and a long, persistent finish. It carries 13.5% alcohol by volume and is best served at 16–18°C. It pairs beautifully with bistecca alla Fiorentina, wild boar stew, roasted red meats, game, and aged Tuscan cheeses. Rated 91 points by James Suckling and 90 points by Wine Advocate, this wine is approachable upon release and can be enjoyed over the next 3–7 years.
