Lestang 1573 Sancerre is a premium white wine from the prestigious Sancerre AOC in the Loire Valley of France. Produced at Château de l'Estang — an estate first documented in 1573 — the wine is crafted from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown on three hectares of vines planted in the region's distinctive flint-rich soil, situated in Sancerre's celebrated "Golden Triangle."
The estate, revived in 2013 by Rémy Graillot, follows an engaged agroecological approach and holds distinction as the first ADEME-certified low-carbon estate in Sancerre. Viticulture is conducted entirely by hand without synthetic inputs, preserving soil health and the full aromatic potential of the fruit. Vinification involves gentle pressing, stainless-steel fermentation at controlled temperature, and aging on fine lees with regular batonnage, yielding a wine of refined minerality and vibrant aromatic complexity.
On the nose, the wine offers vibrant citrus aromas — Granny Smith apple, lemon, and a hint of verbena — layered with pronounced mineral notes of graphite and gunflint. The palate delivers a zesty citrus attack, fruity and tangy mid-palate, and a long, fresh, saline finish with herbaceous undertones (fennel, fresh herbs). Best served at 9–12°C as an aperitif or alongside oysters, ceviche, grilled salmon, fresh goat cheeses such as Crottin de Chavignol, or mildly spiced dishes.
