Indri Agneya is an award-winning Indian single malt whisky from Piccadily Agro distillery in Indri, Haryana, near the Himalayan foothills. The name Agneya derives from the Sanskrit word meaning "belonging to fire," embodying the spirit of flame with clarity and purpose rather than chaos. This refined and elegant whisky is crafted from locally-grown six-row barley that is malted in India and kilned using peat imported from Scotland to 25 phenol parts per million, similar to Talisker's peat level. The whisky is fully matured in a combination of first-fill ex-bourbon, Pedro Ximénez sherry, and Oloroso sherry casks, carefully selected by the master blender to create a nuanced depth and complexity.

The bourbon casks contribute notes of vanilla, caramel, and toasted wood, while the sherry casks enrich the spirit with layers of dried fruits, warm spices, and nutty undertones. Bottled at 46% ABV, Agneya offers a lightly peated, approachable introduction to smoky Indian single malts. On the nose, delicate hints of chocolate intertwine with subtle vanilla sweetness, touches of spice, dried apple and apricot, fruit jam, and peat dust with earthy undertones. The palate reveals tropical fruits like mango and ripe banana, rich toffee, light spice, and a warm embrace of dried peat smoke, with melon adding a refreshing twist and a sweet fruity essence lingering with soft, rounded smokiness. The finish is a blend of sweet and salty nuances with a smooth, smoky conclusion, where balanced layers of fruit sweetness and soft spice leave a lasting impression.
