Spottswoode Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is one of Napa Valley's most celebrated and age-worthy red wines, produced at the historic 45-acre Spottswoode Estate on the western edge of St. Helena. The estate has been farmed organically since 1985 and is certified organic, biodynamic, and regenerative organic. Founded in 1882 and today stewarded by second-generation sisters Beth and Lindy Novak, Spottswoode is renowned for crafting wines of restraint, elegance, and extraordinary longevity.
This estate-grown wine blends approximately 89% Cabernet Sauvignon with 8% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, aged 20 months in predominantly French oak barrels. The wine presents deep color with aromas of fresh blackberries, dark red berries, hints of anise, cream, and light cocoa shavings. On the palate it is medium-bodied with bright, crunchy black and red fruit, firm fine-grained tannins, and a long, spicy finish. The alluvial clay loam soils of the Sulphur Creek fan, combined with cool maritime breezes from Spring Mountain and the Mayacamas range, contribute to the wine's remarkable balance and complexity.
Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon consistently earns scores of 97 to 100 points from major critics and is widely recognized as one of the finest Cabernet Sauvignons in the world. Available through Costco's direct allocation program, sold as a case of six 750mL bottles.
