Joseph Drouhin Meursault Perrières Premier Cru is an exceptional white Burgundy wine produced by Maison Joseph Drouhin from 100% Chardonnay grapes grown in the celebrated Les Perrières vineyard of Meursault, Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France. Perrières takes its name from the chalky, stony soil of the site — a poor, dry terrain that drives the vines to produce grapes of remarkable concentration and mineral character. The vineyard sits at the southern end of the Meursault appellation and is widely regarded as one of its finest Premier Cru sites.
The wine presents an extraordinarily luminous color with a complex and varied aromatic palette of syrup, grilled almond, and preserved fruit. On the palate it delivers a silky and ample texture with refreshing acidity and lightness, finishing long with flavors of grilled bread and fruit jam. Grapes are harvested by hand in open-work crates and slowly pressed in a pneumatic press. The wine undergoes both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels, then ages for 16 to 18 months with 20 to 25 percent new oak. Serve at 13°C (55°F). Optimal drinking window is 8 to 10 years from vintage, with cellaring potential of up to 15 years.
