Château Brown Blanc is a prestigious white Bordeaux wine from the Pessac-Léognan appellation within the Graves region of France, sold at Costco in a case of 6 bottles at 750ML each. Château Brown is a historic estate with roots dating back nearly 1,000 years, taking its name from Scottish owner John Lewis Brown who settled in Bordeaux in the 18th century. The estate was revitalized under Jean-Christophe Mau starting in 2004, with famed wine consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt brought on to elevate quality. In 2018, the château earned High Environmental Certification (HVE) for its commitment to sustainable farming.
The white wine is crafted from 5 hectares of vines planted to 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Sémillon, with grapes grown in gravel-based soils with clay, sandstone, and iron deposits. Fermentation takes place in 50-hectoliter stainless steel vats, followed by aging in 50% new French oak barrels for approximately 8 months. Production is extremely limited at fewer than 300 cases per year. The wine is noted for its bright citrus aromatics — lemon rind, pomelo, grapefruit, and tropical fruit notes — with a crisp, refreshing palate and a clean, vibrant finish. It pairs exceptionally well with shellfish, sashimi, sushi, seafood, chicken, veal, and cheese.
