Denis Chaput Mésogée Brut is a non-vintage Champagne from the Côtes de Bar region of France, produced by the Denis Chaput estate, a family-owned grower-producer founded in 1862. This cuvée is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, bottled in June 2020 from a composition of 50% wines from the 2019 harvest and 50% reserve wines from the 2018 harvest, with extended aging on fine lees for added complexity and depth.
Bright, pale golden yellow in color with silvery yellow highlights, the wine presents fine and persistent bubbles. The nose develops a complex aromatic profile of lemon, honey, blackcurrant, pepper, smoked limestone, star anise, peony, apple, apricot, biscuit, and Morello cherry. On the palate, the attack is supple and fresh with a soft, creamy effervescence. Luscious, crisp fruit is underscored by a grapefruity acidity, delicately combined with a marly minerality. The light, juicy finish ends on a smooth, saline note. The wine is 12% ABV and is presented in a 750ML bottle.
This Champagne pairs beautifully with lightly cooked scallops with a tangerine reduction, skate with grapefruit butter sauce, and slow-cooked turnips with a caramel-soy sauce glaze. It is an excellent choice for aperitif service or alongside delicate seafood preparations.
