Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux is a prestigious white Bordeaux wine produced at the legendary First Growth estate of Château Margaux in the Médoc region of France. Crafted entirely from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, it is widely regarded as the highest-priced wine made from that grape variety in all of Bordeaux.
The wine is sourced from an 11-hectare vineyard on the Château Margaux estate, situated on an old plot that was long planted with red vines before being converted to white grapes. Production is extremely selective — only a portion of each harvest is bottled under the Pavillon Blanc label, ensuring exceptional quality and concentration. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, and the wine is aged on lees with battonage, adding richness and textural depth.
On the nose, Pavillon Blanc offers vivid aromas of fresh citrus — lime, lemon curd, grapefruit, and pomelo — alongside white flowers, ripe stone fruit, green almonds, and a distinctive mineral quality of wet pebbles and chalk dust. The medium to full-bodied palate is vibrant and precise, with layered citrus and tropical fruit, elegant acidity, and a long, refreshing finish. The wine balances the exuberant freshness of young Sauvignon Blanc with a creamy, mineral-driven complexity that rewards cellaring for 10 to 15 years.
Pavillon Blanc consistently receives exceptional critical acclaim, with scores ranging from 90 to 100 points from James Suckling, Jeb Dunnuck, Decanter, Wine Advocate, and Vinous.
