Château Haut-Batailley is a prestigious Fifth Growth (Grand Cru Classé) Bordeaux wine from the renowned Pauillac appellation in the Left Bank of Bordeaux, France. This 375ml half bottle format is perfect for intimate dinners or sampling this acclaimed estate wine.
The estate's 41-hectare vineyard is planted with 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot. Part of the vineyard sits on the prestigious Petit Batailley plateau, sharing terrain with the legendary Château Latour, while another section lies on the Bages plateau adjacent to Lynch Bages. The wine undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel vats followed by malolactic fermentation, then ages for up to 20 months in 40% new French oak barrels before bottling.
Founded in 1942 when the original Château Batailley was divided between two Borie brothers, the estate was acquired by the Cazes family (owners of Lynch Bages) in 2017. Under their stewardship, quality has reached new heights with recent vintages earning scores of 94-95 points from leading critics. The wine is known for its elegance and femininity, offering a refined expression of Pauillac terroir with accessible approachability while retaining the structure for 10-18 years of aging potential.
