Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame Rosé 2015 is a prestigious champagne that epitomizes elegance and refinement. This exceptional rosé champagne is composed of 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay, blended with 13% Pinot Noir red wine from the historic Clos Colin parcel in Bouzy, owned by Madame Clicquot's husband. The wine was aged sur latte for eight years and disgorged in March 2023 with a dosage of 8 grams per liter.
This graceful champagne displays a deep salmon color with delicate aromas of wild strawberries, toasted brioche, tea rose, and hints of ginger. The palate reveals steeped cherry and raspberry fruit flavors accented by red currants, blood orange zest, and blood orange. Fine bubbles create a lively mousse, balanced by bright acidity and a minerally underpinning of smoke, oyster shell, and chalk notes. The finish is long, complex, and well-spiced with a touch of peppery spice and sumac.
The wine is full-bodied with impeccable balance, displaying layers of allspice, pink grapefruit, satsuma, jellied fruits, and brown bread richness. An edgier cranberry and hedgerow-fruit side adds complexity. This rosé champagne has received exceptional critical acclaim, scoring 96 points from Jeb Dunnuck and John Gilman, and 95 points from Wine Spectator and Decanter. It is designed to age gracefully through 2035 and beyond.
