A prestigious Barolo DOCG from the Bovio estate in La Morra, Piedmont, Italy, crafted entirely from Nebbiolo grapes โ the noble variety behind Italy's most complex and age-worthy red wines. Gianfranco Bovio took over the family estate from his father Alessandro in 1977 and expanded the holdings across the celebrated slopes of Arborina, Gattera, and Rocchettevino in the heart of the Barolo zone. Sold in a case of 12 bottles, each 750ml.
This wine pours a deep ruby red with brick red highlights. The bouquet is fresh and expressive, offering aromas of dried oranges, rose petals, dusty white pepper, nuts, and leather. On the palate it is smooth and elegant with tight mineral tension, vivid cherry and raspberry fruit, and a long, persistent finish shaped by classic chalky Nebbiolo tannins. Recent vintages have earned 94 points from Wine Spectator, 93 from James Suckling, and 93 from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, with the 2020 vintage best enjoyed from 2027 through 2045.
Barolo is known as the "King of Wines" and must be aged for a minimum of 38 months before release, of which at least 18 must be in oak. These wines develop remarkable complexity over time, with notes of tar and roses in youth giving way to truffle, tobacco, dried fruit, and spice with extended cellaring.
