This exclusive vertical set from Château Pontet-Canet offers three consecutive vintages — 2015, 2016, and 2017 — each represented by two 750ml bottles, for a total of six bottles. Château Pontet-Canet is a classified Fifth Growth estate located in the prestigious Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux's Médoc, situated adjacent to the legendary Château Mouton Rothschild. Under the stewardship of Alfred Tesseron and his family since 1975, the estate has risen to rival the performance of Bordeaux's top classified growths.
The estate's 81-hectare biodynamic vineyard is planted predominantly to Cabernet Sauvignon (62%), Merlot (32%), Cabernet Franc (4%), and Petit Verdot (2%), grown on deep gravel soils over clay and limestone. Pontet-Canet earned official organic certification in 2010 and is fully biodynamic, with horses used in place of tractors to plow the vineyards. All harvesting, sorting, and destemming is done entirely by hand, with no electricity used in the winemaking process. Fermentation takes place in wooden conical vats and concrete tanks using gravity-fed grape delivery.
The 2015 vintage is considered one of the finest modern Bordeaux years, producing a rich, full-bodied wine with exceptional concentration, ripe dark fruit, and a long structured finish. The 2016 vintage is widely regarded as a near-perfect Pauillac, with intense cassis and blackberry character underpinned by firm, precise tannins and extraordinary aging potential. The 2017 vintage, notable as the first year all grapes were destemmed entirely by hand, shows elegant restraint and finesse with a slightly lighter structure than the two preceding years, making it approachable earlier while still rewarding cellaring. Together, these three vintages offer a compelling study in how Pontet-Canet expresses Pauillac terroir across contrasting growing seasons.
