Campo Elíseo Cuvée Alegre Toro is a 100% Tinta de Toro red wine from the Denominación de Origen Toro in Castilla y León, Spain, produced by Bodegas Campo Elíseo — a collaboration between the Lurton family and Michel Rolland. The wine is crafted using organic viticulture practices, blending power and elegance from two distinct farming styles.
Vinification begins with a cold pre-fermentation soak of 4 to 5 days at 6°C with sustained extraction, followed by alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts. A prolonged maceration period of one month follows, succeeded by malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels — both new and second-use — with each parcel aged separately for 10 months. This meticulous parcel-by-parcel aging preserves the distinctive character of each plot through to the final blend.
The wine presents a deep cherry-ruby color with purple highlights. On the nose it is expressive and fruit-forward with good balance between oak and ripe fruit. On the palate it delivers freshness, fine structure, and vibrant acidity that lend a persistent, clean finish. Serving temperature is recommended at 16–18°C.
This wine has earned strong critical acclaim, including 94 points from the Guía Gourmets and James Suckling, 92 points from Guía Peñín, and 92 points from Wine Enthusiast. It pairs well with beef, lamb, and game such as venison.
