Dr. H. Thanisch Bernkasteler Badstube Riesling Kabinett is a classic German Mosel Riesling from one of the region's most storied estates. The Dr. H. Thanisch estate (heirs Müller-Burggraef) encompasses over 12 hectares of premier vineyard sites in the middle Mosel valley, where black and blue slate forms the steep hillsides sloping down to the Mosel river. The Badstube designation draws from six of the best vineyard sites in Bernkastel, including Doctor, Graben, and Lay — a name dating to the Middle Ages when hot springs in the area served as communal baths.

This Kabinett-level Riesling is crafted from ripe, healthy grapes selected from the Badstube vineyards, fermented naturally with no chaptalization. At 9.0% alcohol, it expresses the terroir through flinty slate minerality, lively racy acidity, and a pronounced bouquet of very ripe red and yellow fruits with exotic and slightly spicy notes. Bright citrus, apple, and stone fruit aromas mingle with smoke and mineral notes on the nose, leading to a refreshing palate with well-integrated acidity and an extraordinary potential for aging.
