Compass Box Brûlée Royale is a limited-edition blended malt Scotch whisky bottled at 49% ABV, inspired by François Massialot, the visionary French chef who invented crème brûlée in the kitchens of the Palace of Versailles. Only 8,556 bottles were produced worldwide, making this a rare find for whisky enthusiasts.

The blend combines malt whiskies aged in ex-bourbon barrels for silky vanilla custard character with whiskies from custom American white oak barrels, toasted and charred with computer-controlled precision at Independent Stave Co.'s Missouri cooperage to deliver sweet, crackling toffee flavours. The result is a whisky that captures the magic of caramelised sugar transformed by fire.

On the nose, Brûlée Royale opens with immediate crème brûlée, poached pear, and fresh vanilla. The palate thickens into clotted cream, honeyed malt, and broiled peaches before unfolding into tarte tatin richness. The finish lingers with pannacotta, gentle nutmeg spice, burnt toffee, and banana split. Not chill-filtered and natural colour, bottled in August 2025 by lead whiskymaker Samuel Travers.
