Château Laur is a sixth-generation family winery located on the high slopes of Floressas in the Cahors appellation of southwest France, producing wine since 1881. Today managed by Patrick, Ludovic, and Cédric Laur, the estate spans 46 hectares of vineyards and is recognized among the top producers in the South West France wine region.
This Malbec is crafted from 100% Malbec grapes, known locally as "Auxerrois" or "Côt," grown in the limestone, clay, and gravel soils of the Cahors AOC along the Lot River valley. The Cahors appellation, established in 1971, is one of France's oldest wine regions and the original home of the Malbec grape before it gained international fame in Argentina. The vineyards are farmed with an organic spirit using integrated techniques that prioritize environmental respect.
The wine displays bold, fruity character with notes of plum, blackberry, blueberry, and purple flowers, along with layers of spice, cedar, and a hint of herbs. It is medium-bodied with fine, velvety tannins and a fresh, balanced finish. With age, it develops aromas of truffle and underbrush. Alcohol content is 12% by volume. Pairs well with beef, venison, lamb, and poultry. Contains sulfites.
