Mendes & Symington Contacto Alvarinho is a premium white wine from the prestigious Monção & Melgaço sub-region of the Vinho Verde DOC in northern Portugal. This is a joint venture between legendary Vinho Verde producer Anselmo Mendes and the Symington family, combining generations of winemaking expertise with a forward-thinking approach to Portugal's most celebrated white grape.

Made from 100% Alvarinho (Albariño), the wine takes its name "Contacto" from a brief period of skin contact with the must during production, adding layers of aromatic complexity. Hand-harvested grapes are destemmed and undergo a three-week fermentation, after which the wine ages for approximately six months on fine lees in stainless steel tanks with regular stirring (bâtonnage). This extended lees contact lends texture and depth that sets it apart from lighter, effervescent Vinho Verde styles.

The result is a mineral-driven white with tropical and citrus fruit aromas, a stony finish, and a full-bodied structure balanced by vibrant acidity. It is vegan-friendly and produced with sustainable viticulture practices at the historic Casa de Rodas estate, whose winemaking heritage dates to 1566.
