Château Cantelys Pessac-Léognan Blanc is a white Bordeaux wine from the prestigious Pessac-Léognan appellation in Graves, France. The estate was originally purchased in 1994 by Florence and Daniel Cathiard, owners of the acclaimed Château Smith Haut Lafitte, and later passed to the Helfrich family wine group. The 40-hectare property sits on gravel-based soils with clay content in the southern suburbs of Bordeaux.
This white wine is crafted from 50% Sauvignon Blanc and 50% Sémillon grown across 5 hectares of vines. Vinification takes place in French oak barrels, 50% new, with no skin contact or malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged on its lees with regular stirring (bâtonnage) for approximately 10 months before bottling, a technique that adds texture and complexity. Annual production is around 2,000 cases, making it a relatively limited release.
Recent vintages display a floral, fruit-forward character with aromas of pineapple, pear, orange rind, quince, and white peach. On the palate the wine shows juiciness, minerality, and creamy texture with notes of green apple, fleshy peach, and hints of passion fruit. A toasty oak influence and light salinity round out the finish. Critics have awarded recent vintages 89–92 points. Best enjoyed 2–9 years from vintage.
