Château Grand-Puy Ducasse is a Fifth Growth (Cinquième Cru) classified estate in the prestigious Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux's Left Bank, France. This red Bordeaux is a classic expression of the Médoc, blending Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grown on the deep gravel soils that characterize Pauillac's renowned terroir, shaped by maritime influences from the Gironde estuary.
The wine is known for its aromatic complexity, displaying notes of black currant, blackberry, cedar, tobacco, leather, and iron. On the palate it delivers a medium-to-full-bodied structure with firm, ripe tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, austere finish that is textbook Pauillac in style. It is built for cellaring, with most vintages offering a drinking window of 10–15 years from harvest, though it can be enjoyed with some decanting upon release.
Château Grand-Puy Ducasse is consistently rated by major critics, with recent vintages earning scores in the 91–96 point range from publications such as Vinous Media, Wine Spectator, James Suckling, and Wine Enthusiast. The château produces approximately 8,000 cases per year, with a small portion imported to the United States.
