Screaming Eagle is Napa Valley's most celebrated cult winery, a tiny Oakville estate whose microscopic production and sky-high quality have made it one of the most coveted wines on earth. The 2023 vintage from the Oakville AVA opens with an explosive lift of blackcurrant, blackberry, violet, graphite, and cool mint, with hints of licorice and fresh herbs. On the palate, deep polished layers of black cherry, crème de cassis, crushed rock, and dark cocoa unfold across a silky yet powerful structure with remarkable purity and tension. The finish is long, refined, and mineral-driven, echoing cassis, violet pastille, and pencil shavings. This wine builds beautifully with time and is expected to age gracefully for 50 or more years.
