Crafted by winemaker and founder Russell P. From, who established Herman Story Wines in 2001, the Bolt Cutter represents a deliberate departure from the winery's Rhône varietal roots into a bold, structured blend designed for lovers of Napa-style Cabernet Sauvignon.

The blend typically combines Cabernet Sauvignon (around 40–48%), Petit Verdot (25–43%), and Syrah, with occasional additions of Malbec depending on vintage. The wine is aged for up to 24 months in predominantly new French oak, yielding deep concentration and complexity.
