El Mayor Reposado is a 100% blue agave tequila produced at Destiladora González Lux (DGL Destiladores, NOM 1603) in Arandas, situated in the Jalisco Highlands (Los Altos) of Mexico. The region's red clay soils are known for yielding sweeter, more fruit-forward agave. This 1.75-liter bottle is bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof).

The agave is twice-distilled in stainless steel pot stills fitted with copper coils, using a proprietary family yeast strain maintained across generations. After distillation, the spirit rests in white oak barrels for a minimum of nine months — seven months longer than the two-month legal minimum for reposado classification. A small portion of añejo-aged tequila may be blended in at the distillery's discretion to add additional depth of flavor.

On the nose, El Mayor Reposado opens with prominent cooked agave sweetness and ripe tropical fruit, layered with baking spices — cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and cloves — and a gentle undercurrent of vanilla. The palate is smooth and round with fruity agave, vanilla, caramel, and baking spice building toward a balanced peak. The finish is smooth and lingering with fruity, perfumed spice notes and no bitterness. The expression earned a Double Gold at the 2023 SIP Awards and has collected Gold or higher medals at that competition every year from 2021 through 2024.
