Walter Hansel Winery's Cahill Lane Vineyard Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard expression from the Russian River Valley in Sonoma, California, sold as a case of 12 bottles (750ml each). The wine is grown, produced, and bottled by Walter Hansel Winery in Santa Rosa, CA, with an alcohol content of 14.5% by volume.
The Cahill Lane Vineyard was planted in 1989 and is farmed at peak quality. The wine is a blend of three clones — Clone 114, Clone 115, and the Rochioli Pommard Clone — each grown on its own one-acre site. Clone 114 contributes herbal complexity and an Old World character, while the Rochioli Pommard and Clone 115 lend vibrant red berry and cherry flavors. Approximately 619 cases were produced in 2021. Critic Antonio Galloni awarded the 2021 vintage 94 points for Vinous, describing it as "a nuanced, sensual wine" with bright red/purplish fruit, blood orange, spice, mint, and hard candy, with a mid-weight, pliant character and bright acids complementing a core of Russian River fruit.
