Moteado Mezcal Artesanal is a small-batch, handcrafted mezcal produced in Etúcuaro, Michoacán, Mexico by 4th generation Maestro Mezcalero Juan Pérez García. Made exclusively from wild-grown Maguey Chino (Agave cupreata) harvested after 8 to 10 years of natural maturation, this Joven mezcal is produced using entirely traditional artisanal methods with just agave and water.

The agave piñas are roasted in underground earthen pits lined with volcanic lava rocks, crushed by hand using wooden mallets, and fermented in open pine wood vats for approximately 15 days. The spirit is then twice distilled in a copper and pine wood still, resulting in a clean, expressive distillate at 42% ABV.

Tasting notes include aromas of papaya, smoke, and vegetal character, leading to a creamy palate of aromatic cherry and fermented tropical fruits, with a long, smooth finish. Moteado earned Double Gold at both the 2024 and 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
