Nittardi Ad Astra is a Super Tuscan red wine from the Maremma region of Tuscany, Italy, produced by Fattoria Nittardi. Its name is drawn from the Latin phrase "Per Aspera Ad Astra" — meaning "a rough road leads to the stars" — a philosophy the winery applies to its approach in the vineyard and cellar. The grapes are grown on the sun-drenched hills of the Mongibello delle Mandorlaie estate in Southern Maremma.
This certified organic wine is a blend of Sangiovese (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (25%), and Cabernet Franc (25%). On the palate, it delivers ripe cherry and blackcurrant, with notes of cedar, dried herbs, and cocoa. Silky tannins frame a savory core, finishing long, fresh, and mineral. Approachable when young, it also rewards those who cellar it. The wine has been awarded the Tre Bicchieri ("Three Glasses") by the Italian wine guide Gambero Rosso, its highest rating, and earned 93 points from James Suckling.
Sold in a 750ML bottle as part of a 6-bottle case.
